Do you know how long dirt stays in your pores?
Yes, that's the amount of time that it takes to cook a baby in your belly!
I, obviously, have never been pregnant because I refer to pregnancy as 'cooking a baby'. I apologize to all the mommies with bio kids out there.
Anywhoo, yes, dirt can stay in your pores for up to NINE WHOLE MONTHS!
That's why it's really important to have a skin care routine.
I have to admit, eight weeks ago, I washed my face once a day with Neutrogena face wash, and I usually went to bed with my makeup on. I haven't had acne since early college, so I didn't really think it was a big deal.
Then, I heard the news. My bubble was busted. During my Mary Kay training I learned how gross my pores really were. I also learned that cleaning out those dirt babies isn't just a matter of washing your face - you gotta get in there deep. You need a deep cleanser.
Since I heard the news, I've upgraded to Mary Kay's 3-1 deep cleanser. I use it every morning and every night. I always thought that I wouldn't be able to keep up a morning and night routine, but I've really come to enjoy my night regimen of cleansing, exfoliating, and toning my face with the 3-1 cleanser, protecting my face with Mary Kay's night solution, and moisturizing. I just feel like I'm ready for bed after I do that. AND, it's only three steps. That's not too bad, right?!
So, to all of you out there who are growing your dirt babies, I encourage you to find a skin care regimen that works for you. Mary Kay has some great skin care products, and I'd be happy to let you try any of them (even if you don't live near me, I can send you a sample). If you're not a fan of MK products, that's okay! I still really encourage you to begin your skin care regimen AS SOON AS YOU CAN!
I want to primarily share makeup tips on this weekly series, but before we can really get into the fun stuff, we have to remember that keeping our skin healthy is the most important thing we can do to our face. You can paint all day long, but if you're painting on an unhealthy surface, it's not going to end up looking very nice!
Below is the basic starter set that I recommend to all of my clients for skin care:
Also, I begin my new job tomorrow morning. Please say a quick prayer for me around 8:30 or so if you happen to think about it. I'm very excited, but nerves are also starting to kick in!
Happy Monday y'all!
