Oribe & Table Topics

Spring is here! Spring is here! Happy first day of SPRING!

The first Friday favorite today is Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray!

For 24.5 years, I believed I had to wash my hair every. single. day. If I didn't wash my hair, it was up in a ponytail on top of my head and I looked a mess. But after working 5 days a week for several years, I was really tired of having to spend 60-75 minutes getting ready every morning. So, I decided to try out dry shampoo.

First I tried some cheap ones like Dove and Suave. Those actually worked really well for me, but if I tried to go more than one day using them, I felt like there was a residue and I wasn't super fond of that. After I began getting my haircut at Wheelhouse and experiencing their Oribe products, I decided to splurge and try the Dry Texturizing Spray

Needless to say, I'm obsessed. I bought the full size in December, and I'm still using it! It doesn't leave a residue AND it also doesn't color your hair white! In fact, I've loved it so much that I'm slowly changing over all of my hair products to Oribe. It's a bit pricey ($42 for the full size) but it works better and lasts longer than what I was buying from Target.

If you've been wondering if you can get away without washing your hair everyday, take it from me, YOU CAN!

The second Friday Favorite is TableTopics!

I heard about TableTopics from listening to the Relevant Podcast (which may be a Friday favorite one week, so you should beat me to it and go over and listen to it - you won't be disappointed). After playing a somewhat similar game with my coworkers at Christmas, I decided I would try out a set.

TableTopics is AWESOME. Jason and I have played just the two of us, and we've also played with my family several times. This activity is perfect for my family because there's a lot of us and we're really competitive, so since there's no winner, it's great! Jk. But seriously, it's so much fun. We actually have our set sitting out in our living room because it's fun to just grab it if people are over or if we're headed over to hang out with some friends.

TableTopics comes in lots of different sets. We have the original, but foodies, family, sports, teens, couples, girls night out, and so much more. They even have a "do-it-yourself therapy" set, which I'm not sure if I recommend. But we do use the family edition set for girls nights with the girls I work with.

All in all, it's pretty awesome! I've even heard of people placing several cards at the dinner table at Thanksgiving or Christmas if you're going to be with lots of people who don't necessarily all know each other well.

The possibilities are endless AND the sets are really affordable at just $25!

BONUS Friday Favorite!

The third and final Friday Favorite is Whole30!

This should be no surprise. I highly highly highly recommend doing Whole30 to anyone and everyone. Not only has it been great for weight loss for someone who has an uphill battle with losing weight, but it's also just made me live a healthier life as a whole.

Since I finished my first Whole30 on January 30th, I have stayed away from artificial sweeteners, sodas, milk and most dairy, and desserts (for the most part). I've stayed away from more, but these are the big things that I was almost addicted to before Whole30. I used to put 2-3 tsp. of Splenda in my coffee everyday. I had at least 4-5 Diet Cokes per week and I usually didn't pass up on dessert and had my freezer stocked with ice cream. Even though I've had dessert since I finished my first Whole30, I actually have not bought ice cream to keep in my freezer, so it lessens the temptation!

I also learned by reading It Starts with Food that eating a lot of dairy can be 'not great' for people with insulin resistance, which is me.

The community of Whole30 is incredible. I didn't believe it until I did it, but the website is so informative, the forum is so user friendly, and the Instagram and Facebook accounts are encouraging and also offer recipe ideas! There's even a breakdown of how you'll probably feel each day. For me, it was right on point, which is crazy!

Currently, I'm on day 9 of my second Whole30. I haven't been perfect on it, but to date I've lost 4 pounds (I know, you're not supposed to weigh but like I said, I haven't been perfect on it)! It's been easier this time because I only took about 6 weeks off from the first round. My goal this time is not to quit at day 30, but to really adapt it to be a lifestyle. I wanted to do that after the first round, but I think curiosity (and lack of self-discipline) got the best of me and I wanted to see what would happy if I only halfway did it. Conclusion, halfway doesn't cut it. I gained back about 3 pounds in those 6 weeks. No bueno.

So don't hesitate, just do it! Go pickup It Starts with Food at the bookstore or on Amazon and start tomorrow! I'll help you! Also, they're coming out with a new book on April 21st that is available for pre-order now!

That's all I have for today! Go out, buy some awesome Dry texturizing spray, grab your TableTopics, and head out to a Whole30 compliant dinner on the great Friday night!
