{the dorsett's} black and white camera

I love the art of black and white photography. When I was just starting out learning how to take photos well, my yearbook teacher let me borrow a 35mm camera from the school. I bought some black and white film, and my friend and I had so much fun capturing our hometown, Destin, FL, in black and white. I believe that black and white photos capture a timelessness that force us to use our imagination. We see the emotion of the objects or people in the photos, but we have to image the color that surrounds them. As a little gift to myself, I bought a 35mm camera a few months ago, and these are the photos that I was able to capture.

Disclaimer: I made the mistake of taking my film to a local drugstore to get developed. While they had the film, the messed up the negatives and said that they couldn't process them. So, doing what I should have done in the first place, I sent the film off to a company in California. They did a great job trying to make it work, but you can still see the imperfections . Even so, I'm really happy with how they turned out. They have kind of a vintage feel to them.
